Welcome to Baby Birchard's Practice Challenge!

While Ms. Deanna is gone on maternity leave, there will be no regular lessons. But that doesn’t mean piano practice has to stop! Baby Birchard challenges you to continue to practice 5 days a week, and she wants to make it more fun by offering awards and prizes to students who do!

Challenge 1:
​Daily Practice

• Play or Practice for at least 10 minutes.
• Log your practice on the paper sheet, or online on the Student Portal under “Practice Log.”
• Scoring: Earn 1 point per day complete

Challenge 2:
​Daily Technique

• Choose a Technique Exercise from the list provided.

• Record a short video of yourself playing the technique and send it to Ms. Deanna.
• Scoring: Earn up to 2 points per day if using correct technique

Challenge 3:
​Weekly Theory

• Complete Theory Challenges Online (see link below).
• Send your score report to Ms. Deanna or record your verification code on the paper sheet.
• Scoring: Earn 3 points per activity per day. Maximum 6 points per week.

Awards & Prizes

Practice Buddy: 120 Points

• Practice Buddies will earn a Special Certificate at the Spring Recital on May 9.

Practice Coach: 150 points

• Practice Coaches will receive a Special Certificate, as well as a page of custom stickers to use in their piano books.

Practice Leader: Practice the most days from December 28 to February 28
Technique Expert: Send in the most high-scoring Technique Videos from December 28 to February 28
Theory Captain: Complete the most Theory Exercises*
*Maximum Score: 54 points. All students who earn 54 points become a Theory Captain.

• The Practice Leader, Technique Expert, and Theory Captains will also receive a Special Certificate and a Special Prize

Master Practicer: Highest Points Score

• The Master Practicer will receive a Special Certificate and Prize and will be the first student to meet Baby Birchard!
